Gold Britannia Coins

Gold bullion Britannia coins are the UK's most popular CGT exempt 1oz gold coins. Britannias were introduced by The Royal Mint in 1987. These British gold bullion coins have a face value of £100.

Between 1987 - 2012, the coins were struck in 22 carat gold (0.9167 fineness); from 2013 onwards, the coins have been struck in 24 carat gold (0.9999 fineness). The coins all contain one troy ounce of gold, whether they are struck in 22 carat gold or 24 carat gold.

Gold Britannia Bars

These gold bars are investment bullion bars issued by The Royal Mint, offering investors a wide range of sizes ranging from 1g to 100g. Each bar is made of 24-carat gold, is VAT-exempt, and features a depiction of Lady Britannia.

Who is Lady Britannia?

Lady Britannia is a personification of Great Britain, often depicted as a majestic and virtuous woman wielding a trident and shield. 

The image of Lady Britannia has been employed for centuries as a way to embody the country's unwavering strength and values, appealing to the discerning and cultured clientele of Britain.

Obverse

The two products in the Britannia Gold Bullion Investment Bundle feature separate designs. The obverse of the 2024 Britannia gold coin showcases the uncrowned design of the new King Charles III by Martin Jennings. In contrast, the Britannia gold bar displays engraved product specifications on the bar, complemented by a water wave design at the bottom.

Reverse

The reverse of the two Britannia gold investment products featured in this bundle depicts an interpretation of Lady Britannia, the personification of Great Britain, holding onto her trident and shield.
