Celebrate Four Decades Of China’s Silver Panda Series

The annual release of China’s headlining silver coin, the Silver Panda, is highly anticipated by collectors and stackers around the world. This silver bullion series is on par with other silver world coins such as the Australian Silver Kookaburra and the Canadian Silver Maple Leaf. And with 2023 marking the 40th anniversary of this immensely popular series, interest in Silver Panadas is at an all-time high! That’s why we’re so happy to present this special limited-edition set—a set that combines the oomph of a two-ounce silver bar with the beauty of this year’s acclaimed 2023-dated 30-gram silver Panda.

World’s First Silver Bar With Partial Green Gold Plating

That’s right… it’s a two-piece set that consists of an 80 mm x 50 mm bar that has a hole in it to accommodate the 40 mm legal-tender 10 Yuan Silver Panda Coin. The premium bar is embellished with a delicate green 24-karat gold plating, which gives each leaf on its reverse a bright tint that denotes growth and vitality and lends a bit of magic to the design. It’s the first Silver Bar in the world with partial green gold plating, making it a genuine masterpiece that skillfully unites the elegance of silver and the brilliance of gold. The obverse features a big, bold and dominating “40” with panda bears posed in and around the numerals.

One-Year-Only Panda Design Is Fifth Year Of “Series Within A Series”

Beautifully struck in highly pure 99.9% fine silver, each 30-gram coin features a new design with the 2023 design created by Tong Fang, a China Mint designer who has created many one-year-only designs for China’s Panda Series. Ms. Fang’s design for the 2023 Panda coin features a pair of playful young Panda bears—twins perhaps?—playing in a tree. They’re shown facing each other, one in the tree and one below, extending their paws as if one is offering the other a “hand” up in the tree. This is the fifth year of the China Mint’s 10-year “series within a series” where collectors get to watch a Panda grow from a cub to adulthood. The obverse displays the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests located in Beijing’s Temple of Heaven. It is encircled by the phrase “People’s Republic of China” in Chinese along with the 2023 year date.

Just 1,983 Individually Numbered Sets Have Been Released!

Each piece also comes in gorgeous Proof-Like (PL) condition, meaning that even though they were struck as proofs, the brilliant and reflective finish of their fields exhibit a higher-than-normal degree of reflectivity very similar to that of a Proof coin. Plus, just 1,983 sets have been released—one each to recognize the year of the very first Silver Panda in 1983. That’s a painfully small mintage and each bar will come individually serial-numbered to show its place in the limited mintage. With so few available, the time to add one to your collection is now before they’re all gone!
