DESCRIPTION & ANALYSIS
The Philadelphia Mint struck over 5.7 million $5 gold half eagles in 1881. Today, they are one of the most common dates in the series, and are often seen in MS 63 or better grades. However, only 42 proofs were struck that year, and perhaps 15-20 still exist.
One of the world’s oldest and most popular gold bullion coin programs, the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf debuted in 1979.
